Sasria is a public South African non-life insurance enterprise established over 40 years ago, inspired by the courage of many young South Africans during the Soweto Uprising. The company’s mission is to provide coverage for damage caused by special risks such as politically motivated acts, strikes, riots, terrorism, and public disorder. Sasria provides risk insurance to government institutions, including hospitals, municipalities, and schools, as well as many private organizations and individuals.

About the Sasria Bursary Programme – Fields Covered
Sasria is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursary covers fields of study that Sasria considers scarce skills, aiming to establish a pipeline of talented young individuals.
Bursaries will be awarded for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Accounting
- BIT-Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Science and Mathematics
- Business Economics
- Finance
- Information Technology (BSc)
- Insurance
- Investment
Eligibility Requirements for the Sasria Bursary
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to apply for the bursary (failure to meet all requirements will lead to disqualification):
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
- Must be currently in Matric (in 2023) or have completed Matric
- Must intend to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in one of the fields listed above
- Must achieve a minimum overall average of 70% (B symbol) in Matric
- Must be entering the first year of study in 2025-2026
- Must intend to study at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa

Required Supporting Documentation
Submit clear copies of the following documents along with your completed application form (submission of these documents is compulsory – missing items will result in disqualification):
- Certified copy of ID document (both sides)
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (if completed Matric)
- Certified copy of latest Grade 12 report (Term 1, 2, or 3), if currently in Matric
- Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
- Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (most recent payslips if employed/affidavit if unemployed/affidavit declaring monthly income if self-employed/affidavit or death certificate if deceased)
- Motivational letter supporting your application (about yourself, your academic and leadership achievements, and why you should be considered for the bursary)
