Total South Africa, registered as a private company in 1954, manufactures, markets, and sells various petroleum products, including liquefied petroleum gas, lubricants, jet fuel, agro-chemicals, bitumen, kerosene, and greases. They serve industrial, commercial, and retail markets and have a network of 530 service stations across South Africa.
About the Total Bursary Program:
Total has established a bursary program to assist 8 to 10 financially needy students each year by covering the cost of their studies. The program will cover tuition fees, prescribed books, stationery, and accommodation.
Bursaries will be awarded for the following fields of study:
- Finance (Tax/ Accounting)
- Economics
- Marketing
- Human Resources
- Law and Corporate Governance
- Health and Safety
- Environmental Studies
- Logistics/ Supply Chain Management
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Civil Engineering
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 18 and 23 years old
- Have completed Matric
- Be studying or intending to study full-time in one of the specified fields
- Be studying or intending to study at a South African university or FET college
- Third-year students may also apply if they have maintained a minimum average of 65% in their first 2 years of study
- Prove financial need
- Not be currently receiving funding or financial assistance from any other company or institution
Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged individuals who have completed Matric and received university exemption.

To apply for the bursary, download and complete the Total Bursary Application Form in PDF format.
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documents along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application will be disregarded):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Most recent academic record (certified copy)
- Admission letter or proof of registration from a recognized tertiary institution
- CV (with your contact details)
- Motivational letter explaining why you should be awarded the bursary (to be written by the applicant)
- Parents/guardians’ proof of income (latest payslip)
