BEKA Schréder (Pty) Ltd was established with the aim of providing intelligent and sustainable lighting solutions using modern technology to reduce energy consumption and overall ownership costs. Founded in 1978, the company established its head office and factory in Olifantsfontein in 1981, strategically located between Johannesburg and Pretoria. Today, BEKA Schréder is a leading manufacturer of luminaires and Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyester (GRP) poles in Africa.
BEKA Schreder Bursary
BEKA Schréder (Pty) Ltd offers bursaries for various fields of study, including:
- Accounting/Finance
- Marketing
- Human Resources
- Information Technology
- Logistics/Supply Chain
- Engineering
The bursary program covers study-related expenses up to a maximum of R75,000, which includes tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, accommodation, and meals. If study-related expenses are less than R75,000, the bursar will not receive the difference.
The bursary is awarded for one year of study, and recipients must reapply for each academic year based on their academic performance. Bursary recipients may have the opportunity to participate in vacation work or practical training each year. Failure to complete the program may require partial or full reimbursement of the bursary amount.
Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to qualify for the BEKA Schréder bursary program:
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric or currently in Matric
- Enrolled or intending to enroll in a full-time undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields of study
- Studying or intending to study at institutions accredited by the Department of Higher Education (DHET)
- Competitive academic record

Closing Date
The applications for the 2025-2026 bursaries are expected to open before the end of November. The closing date for applications will be in March 2025-2026.
