About the Baker Hughes Bursary Program – Fields Covered: Baker Hughes invites students to apply for its 2025-2026 bursary program, which supports undergraduate and postgraduate (up to Honours degree) studies in the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering
- Information Technology
- Law
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Sales and Marketing
- Supply Chain & Logistics
Expenses Covered & Other Benefits: The Baker Hughes bursary covers all expenses on your fee statement, which may include tuition, accommodation, and other costs for the entire duration of your studies. Bursary recipients also have the opportunity for vacation work at the company, gaining valuable industry experience. The program offers potential mentorship opportunities with experienced company employees and the possibility of employment after graduation.
Eligibility Requirements for the Baker Hughes Bursary: To be eligible for the Baker Hughes bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Completion of Matric
- Pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification (up to Honours degree) in one of the specified fields
- Enrollment in the 2nd year or beyond (1st-year students will not be funded)
- Studying at one of South Africa’s 26 public universities
- Not receiving NSFAS funding or any other bursary funding
- No outstanding student debt from previous years (only debt from 2025-2026)
- Family household income of less than R600,000 per annum (excluding Baker Hughes employees and their children)
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
How to Apply for the Baker Hughes Bursary: Applications must be submitted online through the Baker Hughes Bursary Application for 2025-2026. Be sure to include clear copies of the following supporting documents:
- ID document or both sides of ID card (certified copy, not older than 6 months)
- Full academic transcripts/records on institutional letterhead
- Official fee statement, less than 30 days old (on tertiary letterhead and/or stamped, not proof of registration or fee quotation)
- Proof of registration for the 2025-2026 academic year
- ID number of parents, guardians, or spouse to verify combined family household income (only the ID number is required)
- Medical letter/note stating the nature of your disability if you have a disability
- Motivational letter focused on two aspects: your personal brand and why your future is worth investing in (maximum 1200 words)
Closing Date for the Baker Hughes Bursary: The application deadline is 31 July. Late applications will not be accepted, so ensure you apply before the closing date.
