About CAPE BOD:
The CAPE BOD Bursary is provided by CAPE SAJBD, which stands for Cape South African Jewish Board of Deputies. CAPE SAJBD advocates for and ensures the interests, rights, and values of the Jewish community in the Western Cape are protected. This organization is dedicated to safeguarding the civil and religious rights and welfare of the Jewish community. CAPE SAJBD acts as a bridge between the Jewish community of the Western Cape province and the broader South African population.
CAPE SAJBD firmly believes that there is no place for hatred in South Africa and actively engages with influential leaders in administrative, media, and political spheres to address various forms of antisemitism.
Under the leadership of a pragmatic chairperson and an efficient team, CAPE SAJBD engages in various lawful activities related to the community. The bursary funding is made possible by contributions from families, trustee members, and individuals who value education and care for the community.
CAPE BOD Bursary 2024-2025:
The CAPE BOD Bursary is designed for Jewish students residing within the Western Cape province who wish to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in any field.
This bursary will cover 50% of the annual fees for the selected candidates. CAPE SAJBD aims to provide support to as many students as possible through this bursary program by covering half of the tuition fees.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the CAPE BOD Bursary program, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be of Jewish descent
- Must have completed Matric within the Western Cape Province and have permanent residence in the Western Cape for a minimum of three years
- Must intend to study or be enrolled in undergraduate/postgraduate studies leading to a first qualification
- Must be studying at or have applied to an accredited and recognized tertiary institution (technical college, university, or similar) in the Western Cape province
- Must demonstrate a genuine need for financial assistance
- Must actively support communal organizations and be willing to participate in community leadership programs
- Must adhere to all terms and conditions set by CAPE BOD

Documents Required:
Applicants should prepare the following documents for the CAPE BOD Bursary 2024-2025 application:
- Matric certificate and study course with study codes (if available)
- Proof of parents’ or guardians’ income (If employed, provide the latest payslips; if involved in an informal business, income statements for the past twelve months, trading details, and an affidavit witnessed by a Commissioner of Oaths; if on a pension, pension slips; if self-employed/directors of a private organization/shareholders, provide income statement and balance sheets)
- Latest financial statements and trust deeds if an immediate family member is associated with a Trust
- Copies of bond statements if parents hold property with a mortgage
- Schedule of shares if parents hold any shares
- Schedule of gross and net earnings for the past twelve months
- Copies of income tax returns, IRP5 for the last financial year, tax assessment for the previous tax year, and schedule of outstanding creditors account
- Marriage documents if married; if divorced, provide divorce agreements related to the education of the child
