CIPLA Bursaries 2025-2026
The Cipla Graduate Skills Program Bursary aims to provide financial assistance to students from diverse backgrounds who are pursuing studies in fields critical to Cipla’s current and future success. The bursary is awarded to students studying at accredited public tertiary institutions in South Africa and covers a range of study-related expenses.
Fields of Study
The bursary committee considers Cipla’s succession plans and the scarce skills needed to grow the business. The following fields of study are eligible for the bursary:
- Computer and Information Sciences
- Engineering
- Economic Management Sciences
- Graphic Design
- Health Sciences
- Human Sciences, Industrial Psychology, Human Resources
- Manufacturing – logistics, demand planning, production, warehousing
- Natural Sciences
- Pharmacists
- Social Sciences – Digital Marketing and Communications
- Supply Chain
Bursary Coverage
The bursary covers the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- University accommodation (or private accommodation with a copy of the lease or landlord affidavit)
- Meals
- Books and study materials
- Laptop (maximum R8,000, provided only once during the funding period)
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Cipla Graduate Skills Program Bursary, applicants must:
- Be studying or intending to study towards a qualification in one of the listed fields of study
- Maintain a 70% average for each year of study
- Participate in Cipla’s vacation work programs
- Apply to the Cipla Graduate Skills Program
- Be a South African citizen
- Be studying full-time at an accredited public tertiary institution
Application Process
All applications must be submitted via the Cipla careers online application system. Incomplete applications are automatically disqualified. The application process involves the following steps:
- Register Your Profile: Create an account on the Cipla careers online application system.
- Complete the Application Form: Fill in all required fields accurately.
- Upload Required Documents: Ensure all documents are in PDF format and do not exceed 2MB. Required documents include:
- Single-page CV with a photo
- Contact numbers and email addresses
- South African identity number
- Funding requests with supporting invoices, statements, or quotes
- Submit the Application: Ensure all sections are complete and submit your application before the deadline.
Important Guidelines
- Funding is finalised by 30th March each year.
- Funding is reviewed annually and continued if the student maintains a 70% average.
- Bursars are required to serve articles or enter into a training contract with Cipla upon completion of their studies.
- Only applications submitted via the Cipla careers online application system are considered.
- If documents are missing, the application will be disqualified.

Application Issues
- Document Upload Issues: If you struggle to upload documents, try uploading them in the ‘reference’ field of the online application form or include them as part of your CV attachment.
- Missing Transcripts: Include your mid-year transcripts in the interim and forward your recent transcript as soon as you have it. If your results are withheld due to outstanding fees, request a letter from your institution confirming your qualification and completion of studies.
Funding and Benefits
- What is funded?: The bursary covers tuition, accommodation, meals, books, and a laptop (maximum R8,000).
- Other benefits: Access to ICAS employee wellness program, opportunity to apply for the Cipla Graduate Skills Program, psychometric assessment feedback, vacation work, and access to Cipla Subject Matter Experts (SME).
Graduate Skills Program
- Eligibility for Honours, Masters, or PhD students: Funding is available for honours and masters students. PhD funding is reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Vacwork: Opportunities to enhance work experience within and outside of their fields of study.
- Job Guarantee: Bursars maintaining a 70% average during the funding period are invited to apply for the graduate program. Successful applicants are offered a place in the 2-year graduate program.
- Internship Opportunities: Cipla makes every effort to accommodate bursary students who need to complete an internship.
Confirmation and Contact
- Funding Confirmation: By 30th March each year.
- Number of Bursaries: Between 20 and 30 students per year.
- Notification of Success: Successful applicants will be contacted by email and a letter of confirmation will be sent to both the student and the institution.
