Emfuleni Local Municipality Bursary Program:

Emfuleni Local Municipality offers the Mayoral Bursary program for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursary aims to support students residing within the Emfuleni municipal area pursuing studies in various fields, including Commerce, Human and Social Sciences, Law, Science and Technology, Technical Skills (e.g., Electrical, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering), and any other scarce and critical skills as identified by the municipality’s needs.

Coverage and Selection:

The Emfuleni Local Municipality Bursary covers registration fees, tuition fees, and books. In some cases, it may also provide assistance with accommodation and meals, depending on the students’ needs. Shortlisted candidates will receive notifications by no later than February 17. Eligibility Criteria:

South African citizenship
Residency within the Emfuleni Local Municipality area in Gauteng
Completion of Matric with a minimum average of 60%
Enrollment in the first year of undergraduate study in one of the specified fields in 2025-2026
Acceptance at a South African university or higher learning institution
Preference for students from disadvantaged families registered on indigent database categories
Preference for students enrolled at local institutions, followed by institutions in Potchefstroom, Mahikeng, and Gauteng
