About Friends of Design:
Friends of Design – Academy of Digital Arts, established in 2006, is a renowned design education institution located in Cape Town. The academy is accredited by the Department of Higher Education and offers a wide range of educational programs, including full-time courses, short courses, online courses, and corporate training programs. Friends of Design is dedicated to promoting skills development in creative fields and providing study opportunities for students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
About the Friends of Design Bursary Program:
Friends of Design is offering bursaries to talented and passionate students who aspire to pursue studies in the field of digital arts. This opportunity is open to individuals who have completed their Matric and wish to enroll in a certificate qualification program.
The institution offers three SAQA-approved Higher Certificate courses that span one year. These courses are each valued at R76,800 per student, and the bursary covers this cost. The courses are aligned with the HEQSF and consist of the following options:
- Game Graphics and Multimedia Entertainment
- Print Design and Publishing
- Web Publishing and Interactive Media

Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the Friends of Design Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Successful completion of Matric
- A strong passion for pursuing a career in digital arts
- Intention to study one of the specified Higher Certificate courses at Friends of Design
- Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds
