The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) is committed to economically transforming the agricultural sector, ensuring sustainable environmental management for healthy living, maximizing food security, and developing and enhancing rural and urban communities in Gauteng, South Africa. GDARD is responsible for overseeing nature conservation, environmental protection, and agricultural affairs in the Gauteng province.
GDARD Bursary 2024-2025:
The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) is offering a limited number of bursaries to historically disadvantaged South Africans residing in the Gauteng province. These bursaries are aimed at students considering a career in the Veterinary Science, Agriculture, and Environmental Sectors. The eligible fields of study include:
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science
- Geo-Informatics or GIS related qualification (BSc)
- Environmental Science (BSc)
- Environmental Management (BSc)
- Zoology (BSc)
- Botany (BSc)
- Ecology (BSc)
- Chemical Engineering (National Diploma/Degree)
- Analytical Chemistry (National Diploma/Degree)
- Veterinary Laboratory Technology (National Diploma)
- Nature Conservation (National Diploma)
- Graphic Design (National Diploma)
Please note that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted, and if you do not receive a response by the end of January 2024-2025, your application should be considered unsuccessful.
Bursary Requirements And Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the GDARD Bursary:
- South African citizen
- A permanent resident in the Gauteng province for at least one year before applying for the bursary
- Accepted to study at a higher education institution
- Studying or intending to study full-time at a recognized institution of higher learning in Gauteng
- Preference will be given to those with competitive academic performance, disabilities, and those not currently benefiting from any other bursary.
Applicants must also meet the minimum requirements for the corresponding fields of study, including specific subject and grade level requirements.
