The Gauteng Department of e-Government is responsible for implementing network infrastructure to connect government facilities, enhance service delivery, modernize the public service, and promote the knowledge-based economy in the Gauteng City Region (GCR).
About the Gauteng Department of e-Government Bursary Program:
The Gauteng Department of e-Government is offering bursaries for the 2025-2026 academic year. These bursaries are available to students residing within Gauteng and pursuing undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Geoinformatics
- Graphic Design
- Informatics and Information Systems
- Information Technology (IT)
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Multimedia and Interactive Media
- Software Engineering
- Software Development
Bursary Coverage:
The bursary covers the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books and study materials
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the Gauteng Department of e-Government Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Age between 18 and 35 years old
- Residency in Gauteng province
- Current Matric student or completion of Matric
- Pursuing or intending to pursue undergraduate studies in one of the specified fields in 2025-2026
- Registration or admission to a SAQA accredited tertiary institution in South Africa (university or university of technology)
- Minimum overall average of 65% for subjects aligned with the chosen qualification
- Demonstrated financial need

- Proof of residence in Gauteng
- Proof of household income for parents or guardians (e.g., payslips, affidavit, SASSA grant proof, or death certificate if deceased)
- Motivational letter explaining why you are enrolling in your selected qualification (signed by yourself and parent or guardian).
