About KwaZulu-Natal Government

Kwazulu-Natal Government Bursaries 2025-2026
The KwaZulu-Natal Government is offering bursaries to students who are interested in pursuing undergraduate qualifications in various fields of study. These bursaries are available to students residing within the KwaZulu-Natal province.
It’s important to note that the funds for this bursary program are limited, and only a certain number of applications will be approved. The bursary is specifically for full-time study at public institutions. It covers tuition fees, stipends or meals, accommodation, and prescribed textbooks.
Bursary recipients are required to work for the relevant Provincial Department for a number of years equivalent to the duration of their study period.
Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
To be considered for the bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Residing in the KwaZulu-Natal province
- Accepted at a public institution of higher learning
- Preference will be given to applicants studying at public institutions within KwaZulu-Natal.
How to Apply and Application Details
Interested students can download the KwaZulu-Natal Government Bursary Application Form for 2025-2026. Completed forms should be submitted along with certified copies of the following documents:
- ID documents of the applicant and their parent(s) or guardian
- Proof of residence in KwaZulu-Natal
- Matric certificate or current statement of results if already studying
- Proof of income of parents or guardians (payslip, pension receipt, or bank statement)
- Proof of registration or acceptance letter from the institution of higher learning
- Proof of unemployment issued by the Department of Labour if both parents and guardian are unemployed
- Motivational letter explaining personal circumstances and why the bursary should be awarded
