Mercedes-Benz runs bursaries through the Mercedes-Benz Learning Academy, which was established to support local talent and skills development in the Eastern Cape province. The bursaries provided by Mercedes-Benz cover tuition costs and other expenses for students who may not be able to afford higher education. By offering these bursaries, the company aims to enhance the talent pool in South Africa.
For the academic session of 2025-2026, Mercedes-Benz is offering bursaries in the following fields of study:
- Business Studies (Sales, After-sales, Marketing, and Communications)
- Computer Engineering/Information Technology/Software Development, etc.
- Finance/Accounting
- Human Resources
- Law (Legal and Compliance)
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Industrial Engineering
- Supply Chain/Logistics
The bursary amount is determined on a case-by-case basis and covers the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation/Transportation expenses
- Textbook costs
- Digital allowance
Bursary recipients will have the opportunity to study at a university of their choice and work at Mercedes-Benz, Pretoria (Menlyn Maine) during their vacations. Upon completing their education, they may also join the MBSA Graduate Development program.
Eligibility Criteria for the Mercedes-Benz South Africa Bursary:
To be considered for the Mercedes-Benz bursary program, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen or possess a valid work visa or permit.
- Must have completed Matriculation (Grade 12).
- Must be pursuing a qualification in one of the specified fields of study.
- Must be studying at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Must be studying full-time (not part-time).
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in Matric.
- Must have achieved a minimum overall average of 65% at the tertiary level if currently studying.
- Must not be an employee of the Mercedes-Benz group of companies.
Preference will be given to students with disabilities, and psychometric tests may be used in the selection process.
