North West University NWU Department Of Education

North West University Department Of Education aims to utilise available expertise to contribute towards the development of human resources that meet the needs and challenges of school education in South Africa. The main thrust of the teaching and research in the Faculty focuses on the production of high quality teachers, curriculum developers, educational planners, administrators and researchers. The faculty comprises two schools and one centre: the School for Teacher Education and Training, the School of Educational Leadership Development and the Centre for Teacher Development. Close to 40 academic and support staff members are involved in the training of students and day to day running of the Faculty. The main activities of the Faculty take place in the Central Lecture Block on the Mafikeng Campus.

The Vision of the Faculty of education is to promote quality education as professional practice, by training culturally competent educators, who will be able to perform in a diverse and competitive market.
