OMIG (Old Mutual Investment Group) Imfundo Trust Scholarships:
The OMIG (Old Mutual Investment Group) Imfundo Trust Scholarships are initiated by the Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) with the aim of increasing the pool of qualified professionals in the asset management industry. Since its establishment in 2011, the trust has annually provided approximately R4 million in scholarships to deserving black individuals, with a particular focus on women, to pursue higher education at top South African universities.
Scholarship Details:
- The Imfundo Trust Scholarships provide funding for full-time undergraduate and selected postgraduate degree programs at accredited South African universities.
- Scholarships are awarded for degree studies in the following fields:
- For First and second-year studies:
- Business
- Commerce
- Engineering
- Finance
- Management Sciences
- Computer Science and related qualifications
- Data Science
- For postgraduate studies:
- Climate Studies
- For First and second-year studies:
- Continuation of financial assistance from OMIG requires students to pass each academic year.
- OMIG scholars are not obligated to repay the scholarship, and upon graduation, they are not required to work for the Old Mutual Investment Group.
Requirements and Eligibility:
To be eligible for the OMIG Imfundo Trust Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship.
- Applicants in their first year must have achieved an average of 65% or higher in their latest examinations (mid-year/June).
- Scholarships are available to applicants who will be in their first or second year in 2025-2026.
- Minimum 70% average, with a minimum of 70% for Mathematics and 70% for English First Additional Language (or 60% for English Home Language).
- Proven financial need.
- Preference will be given to applicants from rural and township backgrounds.
- Hardworking students who can demonstrate success in tertiary studies.
- 50% of candidates should be black females.
