About the Company – Pilanesberg Platinum Mines (PPM):
Pilanesberg Platinum Mines (Pty) Ltd (PPM) is located within the North West province of South Africa and is a wholly-owned operating subsidiary of Sedibelo Platinum Mines (SPM), held via Platmin South Africa (previously Boynton). PPM is a relatively young mine, with just over 10 years of operation. The company focuses on exploring and developing mining operations responsibly and innovatively, with the goal of creating long-term value beyond mining.
About the PPM Bursary Program:
Pilanesberg Platinum Mines (PPM) invites students from local and labor-sending community members to apply for bursary funding for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursaries are available for studies in various fields, including Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Management, Financial Management, Geology, Nursing, and Occupational Hygiene. PPM will award one bursary for each of the listed fields, except for Nursing, where two bursaries will be awarded.
Selection Process:
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted approximately 21 days after the matric results release date. If you do not receive any feedback by this time, please consider your application unsuccessful. Applicants who are shortlisted will be required to attend an interview and undergo a psychometric test before bursaries are awarded.
Eligibility Requirements for the PPM Bursary:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying:
- South African citizenship
- Age between 16 and 24 years old
- Residence within the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela local communities and Moses Kotane Local Municipality
- Completion of Matric with acceptance to a university
- Enrollment or acceptance to study a qualification in one of the specified fields in 2025-2026
- Study or acceptance at a recognized South African university
- Minimum result of 60% for English in Matric
- Minimum result of 60% for Mathematics in Matric (if required)
- Minimum result of 60% for Physical Science in Matric (if required)
How to Apply for the PPM Bursary:
To apply for the PPM Bursary, candidates should submit clear copies of the following supporting documents:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric final results (certified copy) or Matric certificate if available
- Letter of acceptance from a university (on tertiary letterhead)
- Proof of residence
- Letter of sobriety from a high school Principal (on school letterhead)
There is no specific application form to complete. Applicants need to submit the above-listed documents to apply.
