The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) is a statutory company operating within the framework of the South African National Roads Agency Limited and National Roads Act of 1998. Its primary responsibility is to meet the demand for road infrastructure in South Africa while also maintaining existing infrastructure. SANRAL is committed to environmental responsibility and incorporates sustainability and eco-friendly approaches into road construction.
Since its establishment, SANRAL has played a vital role in reducing congestion in major South African cities and expanding existing freeway routes like the N1 and N3 to accommodate increasing demand. SANRAL High School Scholarship Programme:
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) is dedicated to contributing to the development of South Africa’s youth through educational investment. SANRAL’s skill development model begins with nurturing and supporting students through its scholarship program.
This year, SANRAL scholarships are open to all high school learners, from Grade 8 to Grade 12, regardless of their choice of subjects. These scholarships are awarded to learners who aspire to achieve academic excellence and have an overall aggregate of 60% or higher. Scholarships are granted based on academic merit and financial need.
The SANRAL scholarship program also offers:
- Learner support program: To assist learners in preparing for intense study and academic success.
- Comprehensive support: Including career information and guidance in their desired fields of study, psychological counseling, career coaching, extra classes, and exam preparation based on learners’ needs assessments.
The SANRAL scholarship is intended for students who excel academically and do not necessarily need to have a specific career path in mind.
Scholarship Coverage:
The SANRAL scholarship covers the following:
- Tuition costs paid directly to the school upon submission of school fee statements.
- Reimbursement of school and sports uniforms, books, and stationery costs to parents upon submission of original proof of payment along with a claim form.
- Full scholarship recipients are not allowed to receive any other funding that covers their school fees.
SANRAL Scholarship Requirements And Eligibility:
The scholarship is awarded based on financial need and academic ability, with a preference for students studying in rural schools. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- The learner must be a South African citizen registered at an accredited South African school.
- The learner must be in high school, from Grade 8 to Grade 12, regardless of their choice of subjects.
- The learner must have a minimum overall average of 60%.
- The scholarship application must be completed in full, with all supporting documents enclosed.
How To Apply And Application Details:
Applications must be submitted online through the SANRAL High School Scholarship 2025-2026 application portal.
Applicants must submit clear copies of the following documents along with the completed application form:
Letters Of Motivation:
- A letter from your parents
- A personal letter (2 pages) introducing yourself and explaining why you would like to become a SANRAL scholarship holder
Motivation and support letter from your school.
Certified Copies Of:
- Your June results
- Your ID document or birth certificate (must be a South African citizen)
- Your parents’ ID documents
Proof Of Residence:
- Your parents’/guardians’ water and electricity bill from the local council
Additional Requirement:
- Proof of income or a sworn affidavit (if parents are self-employed in the informal sector or work from home, submit an affidavit regarding their earnings).
Applications missing any of these documents will not be considered.
Closing Date:
The application deadline for the SANRAL High School Scholarship is September 30.
