ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – SCHAUENBURG EDUCATION TRUST

Schauenburg (Pty) Ltd, trading as Schauenburg Systems, is a company that manufactures equipment for mine safety and develops electronic products using cutting-edge technology. They provide turnkey communication solutions and systems for various industries. The Schauenburg Education Trust was established to contribute to South Africa’s socioeconomic transformation by offering educational bursaries to young black students, enabling them to pursue tertiary studies in the fields of Electronics, Engineering, and Economics.

ABOUT THE SCHAUENBURG EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The Schauenburg Education Trust is offering bursaries for the 2024-2025 academic year to undergraduate students at selected universities in Gauteng, South Africa. The bursaries are available for the following fields of study:

  1. Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering (BSc / BEng)
  2. Business Administration (BCom)
  3. Business Management (BCom)

The bursary aims to support students pursuing scarce skills qualifications, ensuring the development of skilled professionals for future employment in South Africa. Bursary awards will be based on merit and financial need.

EXPENSES COVERED, OBLIGATIONS, AND SELECTION

The bursary will cover various expenses, either partially or in full, including registration fees, tuition and examination fees, allowances for prescribed textbooks and course materials, accommodation, and a living allowance. Bursary recipients will be required to participate in vacation work during holidays or job shadowing at Schauenburg Systems.

Selection of candidates will be based on academic merit, motivation, aptitude for research, transformation considerations, and interview outcomes. Shortlisted candidates will attend an interview with the Trustees and Bursary Administrators and undergo psychometric testing. Successful candidates will sign a written contract.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SCHAUENBURG EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be eligible:

  • South African citizenship
  • Completion of Matric
  • Full-time enrollment in one of the specified qualifications
  • Admission to the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2024-2025
  • Enrollment at one of the following Gauteng-based universities: University of Pretoria, University of Johannesburg, North-West University (Vanderbijlpark), or University of the Witwatersrand
  • Good academic progress in the current year of study
  • Passing all registered courses at the university
  • Not receiving any other bursary funding for the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Belonging to the Black category (as per B-BBEE Legislation)
  • Preference given to Black female students, Black students under 35 years old, and Black students living with disabilities

  • Motivational letter or cover letter (maximum 1000 words) explaining your financial situation and why you should be awarded the bursary
  • Proof of household income for parents or guardians (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed)

CLOSING DATE FOR THE SCHAUENBURG EDUCATION TRUST BURSARY
