About Thebe Foundation:
The Thebe Foundation (TF) is a registered Public Benefit Organization established in 2011, with the aim of making a difference and transforming the lives of individuals within the community. This African organization collaborates with various partners in the private and public sectors, primarily focusing on education and enterprise development initiatives.
TF has established the Dr. EJ Mabuza Scholarship (Bursary) fund, named in honor of Dr. EJ Mabuza, to support the Founders Legacy Programme.
About the Dr. EJ Mabuza Bursary:
The Thebe Foundation Dr. EJ Mabuza Bursary provides financial support to students pursuing studies in the following fields:
- Corporate Finance
- Electrical Engineering
- Energy Engineering
- Geology
- Mining Engineering
- Solar Engineering
- Solar Photovoltaic Service Technician
Coverage Value:
The bursary covers the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Textbooks
- Residence at a university or accredited accommodation
- Meals
- Transport allowance for students living at home
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:
- South African citizen
- Black student as per the revised B-BBEE codes
- Completed Matric
- Studying or intending to study in one of the specified fields
- Accepted to study at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa
- Good academic record with a minimum overall average of 60%
- Financially needy (students not eligible for NSFAS and part of the “missing middle”)
How to Apply:

- Submit clear copies of the following supporting documents along with your completed application form (compulsory documents):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Latest academic results/transcripts
- Proof of acceptance to study at a tertiary institute
- Parents/guardians’ ID documents (certified copies)
- Parents/guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips if employed/proof of SASSA grant if applicable/affidavit if unemployed) (certified copies)
- 2018 tertiary fee statement
- Motivational letter to support your application (maximum 1 page)

Closing Date:
