Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) is a subsidiary of Volkswagen Aktiengessellschaft (VWAG) in Germany, and it was established in 1946. VWSA plays a significant role in South Africa as it produces components for the entire Volkswagen Group at its Uitenhage plant. The company is also known for manufacturing the popular VW Polo and Cross Polo. VWSA is one of South Africa’s largest German investments and serves as the biggest private employer in the Eastern Cape. The company has strong relationships with communities across South Africa and is actively involved in various initiatives through its “Volkswagen for Good” program, which includes projects in education, youth development, enterprise development, environment, employee volunteerism, health, community, and wellbeing.
About the VWSA Bursary Program:
Volkswagen Group South Africa (VWSA) is offering bursaries for the 2025-2026 academic year to students pursuing undergraduate studies in various fields. The bursaries cover a wide range of disciplines, including Accounting, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Finance, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Public Relations, Purchasing, and Supply Chain.
The VWSA bursary provides financial support for registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed books, stationery, accommodation, meals, and a laptop for study purposes. In addition to financial assistance, bursary recipients will have the opportunity to participate in vacation work, receive mentoring and development, and access additional study support.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the VWSA Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Completed Matric with a bachelor’s pass
- Minimum overall Matric average of 70%
- Full-time undergraduate student in one of the specified fields (bursary does not cover Master’s or Doctoral studies)
- First, second, or third-year student at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution
- Minimum overall average of 65% at the tertiary level
- Preference will be given to candidates aligning with VWSA’s transformation and employment equity objectives
How to Apply:
To apply for the VWSA Bursary Program for the 2025-2026 academic year, follow these steps:
- Visit the VWSA Bursary Application Portal for 2025-2026 when applications open in September 2025-2026.
- Enter “Uni24.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the VWSA Bursary.
- Submit clear copies of the required supporting documents with your online application:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Latest official academic transcript (certified copy)
- Proof of university registration for the 2025-2026 academic year (official document from the university)
- Official university fee statements for 2025-2026 (include lease agreement if living off-campus)
- Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae
- Motivational letter (1 to 2 pages) explaining why you should receive the bursary
- Parents or guardian’s ID documents or death certificate if deceased (recent certified copy)
- Bursary agreement/letter/offer if funded by another bursary or NSFAS
Please note that certified documents must be less than 3 months old, and if you have multiple documents for one submission, they must be combined into a single file.
Closing Date:
The closing date for the VWSA Bursary for the 2025-2026 academic year is August 31, at 12:00. Applications for the 2024 academic year will open in September 2025-2026.
