Weir Bursary Programme
Weir Minerals Africa is offering a bursary programme for the 2025-2026 academic year, specifically targeting 1st year Engineering students. The bursary is available for the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
The bursary covers full tuition fees, prescribed books, accommodation, and a monthly allowance. Additionally, bursary recipients will have the opportunity to engage in 6 to 8 weeks of vacation work each year.
Renewability, Service Contract & Selection
The bursary is granted for one academic year and is renewable annually based on satisfactory academic performance. After graduation, recipients are required to work for Weir for a period equal to the duration of the bursary funding.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens.
- Have completed Matric.
- Be enrolled full-time in one of the aforementioned Engineering qualifications.
- Be in their 1st year of study at a recognized University in South Africa.
- Have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% or a “C” symbol.
- Be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Possess good planning and organization skills.
- Be adaptable, flexible, and able to cope under pressure.
- Employment Equity candidates are preferred.
