ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDER – TETA & WMU
The Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) in South Africa, responsible for training and skills development in the Transport Sector. TETA aims to facilitate the development of a skilled and capable workforce in the transport industry.
The World Maritime University (WMU) is an institution established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and offers postgraduate programs and conducts research in maritime and ocean-related studies. WMU is dedicated to promoting sustainable maritime development and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
ABOUT THE TETA & WMU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The TETA & WMU Scholarship Program is open to South Africans employed within the maritime sector. It offers a fully-funded scholarship for a Master of Science (MSc) in Maritime Affairs at the World Maritime University in Sweden. The program duration is 14 months and consists of three phases: Foundation Studies, Specialization Studies, and Dissertation.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TETA & WMU SCHOLARSHIP
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African citizen
- Accepted for academic admission by WMU
- Currently employed with the same employer for a minimum of 12 months
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the maritime sector in South Africa
- Consent from the current employer to participate in the program and return to work after completion
- Preference given to female candidates and middle managers
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE TETA & WMU SCHOLARSHIP
To apply for the scholarship, follow these steps:
- Complete the WMU application for admission, attaching your Matric certificate.
- Submit the online application at the WMU Scholarship Application .
- Provide clear copies of the required supporting documentation listed on the application, including ID documents, passport (if available), TETA Motivational Statement, letter of support from the employer, Application for Financial Support form, and signed Terms and Conditions of the Scholarship.
- Submit any additional documents that were not uploaded on the WMU online application via email to msc@wmu.se.
CLOSING DATE FOR THE TETA & WMU SCHOLARSHIP
The closing date for the scholarship application is 5 May. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.
