Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary 2026-2027

The Fellowship Programme looks for young achievers transitioning into university – people who want to make a big impact: not only in their own lives but also in the lives of their community, city and country. The Fellowship recipients receive needs-based funding for university and access to support and development aimed at cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset.

Selection Process:

The selection process includes the following steps and dates:

  1. Applications must be submitted by April 28, at 17:00.
  2. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interviews in July.
  3. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a Selection Camp in September.

All applicants will receive feedback at each step of the selection process.

Eligibility Requirements for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Fellowship:

To be eligible for the Fellowship, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • South African citizenship
  • Age not older than 21 years old in 2026-2027
  • Currently in Matric
  • Minimum of 60% for Mathematics or 80% for Mathematical Literacy in Grade 11 final results
  • Minimum overall average of 70% for Grade 11 final results (excluding Life Orientation)
  • Intending to study a degree qualification in one of the specified fields in 2026-2027
  • Intending to study at one of the 11 partner universities listed
  • Belief in the future of South Africa
  • Strong entrepreneurial flair and passion

How to Apply for the Allan Gray Fellowship:

Applications can be submitted online through the Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Application for 2026-2027. Applicants must first register an account before logging in to apply. Alternatively, a downloadable application form is available for hard copy submissions.

Hard copy applications must be sent via post or hand-delivered to specific addresses. Applications sent via email or fax will not be accepted.

Required Supporting Documents:

Applicants must submit clear copies of the following supporting documents along with the completed application form:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Grade 11 final academic record (if the most recent report)
  • Grade 12 latest academic record (if available, certified copy)

The closing date for applications is April 28, at 17:00. Ensure that you submit your application before this date to be considered.
