About Gold One:
Gold One Group Limited is a South African mining company primarily focused on operations in Southern Africa. In South Africa, the company operates the Gold Springs Resource Corp gold mine, located in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, approximately 30 km from Johannesburg. The mine has existing resources of 874,000 oz gold equivalent. In 2009, Gold One commissioned the Modder East mine. The company has also expanded into uranium mining through the acquisition of Rand Uranium, with plans to recover uranium, gold, and sulfur from sites like Cooke Tailings Dam in the future.
Gold One Bursary 2025-2026:
Gold One is offering bursaries to support needy and academically talented students who face financial constraints in pursuing their education. These bursaries are intended to strengthen the labor market in South Africa by producing qualified graduates. For the academic year 2025-2026, Gold One is awarding bursaries in the following fields of study:
- Finance
- Geological and Earth Sciences
- Mining Engineering
- Metallurgical Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Social Science
Other fields of study may also be considered, subject to approval by the selection committee. The bursary program is open to students residing within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipal area, including towns and cities such as Alberton, Benoni, Bedfordview, Boksburg, Brakpan, Edenvale, Germiston, Kempton Park, Springs, and more.
The bursary will cover certain expenses, including examination fees, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, and accommodation costs for students living in university-administered housing. However, it will not cover short course fees, meals, or transportation expenses, which students are expected to cover themselves.
Shortlisted candidates will receive information about the value of the bursary, and they may be required to attend screening interviews before being selected as bursars. If applicants do not receive communication within 30 days, their applications should be considered unsuccessful.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the Gold One Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Reside in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipal area.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Not be employed.
- Be in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Intend to study full-time in one of the specified fields.
- Be enrolled or willing to register at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Demonstrate strong academic performance and financial need.
- Have achieved a minimum average of 55% in the current/latest qualification.
Preference will be given to applicants residing within mine host communities, including Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, and Nigel.

- Certified copy of Matric Certificate (for those who have completed Matric).
- Latest academic records/results.
- Certified copy of registration/acceptance at an accredited tertiary institution.
- Certified proof of identity for parents, guardian, spouse, or co-debtor.
- Proof of household income for parents, guardian, spouse, or co-debtor (e.g., proof of employment, SASSA document, financial statements, etc.).
- Proof of residence.
