ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – HULAMIN
Hulamin is one of South Africa’s largest non-mineral beneficiating exporters and the only major aluminum rolling operation in sub-Saharan Africa. The company has a long history dating back to 1935 when Aluminium Limited of Canada (Alcan) established a sales office in the country. It was officially registered as the Aluminium Company of South Africa in 1940.
Hulamin is headquartered in Pietermaritzburg and is committed to not only growing South Africa’s aluminum industry but also making a positive impact on the local community. The company employs more than 1,800 staff members and offers bursaries in fields of study crucial to the business’s performance and long-term sustainability.
ABOUT THE HULAMIN BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
Hulamin invites students to apply for their bursary program for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Analytics Engineering
- Computer Science (BSc)
- Electrical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Mathematics (BSc)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Statistics (BSc)
The bursary covers various expenses, including registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed books, a laptop, accommodation, meals, medical aid insurance, and a cash allowance per annum. Recipients will also have the opportunity to participate in paid vacation work during university holidays.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted no later than 30 October . If you do not receive any feedback by this date, please consider your application unsuccessful. Candidates may be required to complete a psychometric assessment and provide a medical report as part of the final selection process.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE HULAMIN BURSARY
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Previously disadvantaged background
- Completed Matric
- Studying towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields
- Entering the 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate study in 2025-2026
- Studying at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE HULAMIN BURSARY
To apply for the Hulamin Bursary, download and complete the Hulamin Bursary Application Form (available in PDF format). In the “How did you hear about the Hulamin bursary?” field, enter “Uni24.co.za.”
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documents along with your completed application form:
- ID document (certified copy, not older than 3 months)
- Full academic record/transcript, including the most recent results (certified copy)
- Proof of university acceptance or registration (on university letterhead)
- Motivational letter to support your application

CLOSING DATE
The closing date for Hulamin Bursary applications is 23 September. Be sure to submit your application before this date to ensure it is considered.
