ABOUT THE BURSAR

The Islam Development Bank (IDB) Education Trust was established in 1973 by finance ministers at an Organisation of the Islamic Conference in Saudi Arabia. While the IDB was initially established as an international finance institution, it now operates in Southern Africa as a faith-based non-governmental organization (NGO).

ABOUT THE BURSARY

The IDB Education Trust offers loan bursary awards for 1st-year Muslim South African students who are planning to study at South African universities. These loan bursaries are interest-free and are specifically intended for students pursuing studies in various fields, including Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Food Technology, Public Health, Dentistry, Forestry, Fisheries, Agriculture, Computer Science, and Communication & Media.

The bursary loans are awarded to 1st-year students and can be renewed annually. They cover tuition costs and provide monthly allowances. Recipients will be required to repay the bursary loan upon completion of their studies, with the repayment duration equal to the time it took to complete their qualification.
