About the Naspers Bursary Program:
Naspers, founded in 1915 in Cape Town, South Africa, is a global internet group with a strong presence in South Africa and the United Kingdom. The Naspers Bursary Program aims to provide financial support to young Black African students who are academically deserving but lack the financial means to pursue their studies. The program covers a range of fields, including Business Sciences, Commerce, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, and Technology. It offers full funding for the entire duration of degree studies, including tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, accommodation, meals, a living allowance, and a laptop for first-year students. Bursary recipients also have access to academic and psycho-social support, mentorship programs, career guidance, and community involvement opportunities.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be eligible for the Naspers Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizenship.
- Black African, either male or female.
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Pursuing or intending to pursue a qualification in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Commerce, or Business Sciences.
- Planning to study at a recognized university in South Africa.
- Total household income must be less than R650,000 per annum.
Specific academic requirements for applicants are as follows:
- Matric students applying for 1st year: Minimum 60% for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) in Grade 11 final results, and a minimum overall average of 65% in Grade 11 final results.
- 1st-year students applying for 2nd year: Must be studying full-time, with a minimum overall average of 65% in June exams and final results.
- 3rd-year students applying for Honors degrees: Must have a minimum overall average of 68% in June/mid-year results and final results and be on track for acceptance.
