ABOUT THE COMPANY – SAMAC
Macadamias South Africa NPC, known as SAMAC, is an organization that consists of macadamia nut growers, nurseries, handlers, and industry service providers. SAMAC was established by a group of growers to address common issues and challenges in the macadamia industry. The organization’s mission is to be leaders in developing a profitable and sustainable macadamia industry through technical and marketing innovation.
ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
SAMAC offers bursaries to students who wish to pursue a career in the macadamia industry in South Africa. The bursaries are awarded for undergraduate studies in various fields related to agriculture and postgraduate studies in the macadamia field. Some of the fields covered include Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Management, Bioresource Engineering, Entomology, Food Science, Plant Pathology, and more.
MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION
Bursaries are awarded based on academic potential and financial need. The value of the bursary is determined on a case-by-case basis and is reviewed annually. After graduation, bursary recipients are required to work for a macadamia-related company, organization, or institution approved by SAMAC. The length of the work contract is equal to the period of bursary funding received.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for the SAMAC bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Undergraduate students:
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric or currently in Matric
- Studying towards an undergraduate agriculture qualification at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Strong academic record
- Previously disadvantaged and impoverished students
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply
Postgraduate students:
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric
- Studying towards a postgraduate macadamia-related qualification (Honours, Masters, or PhD) at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Strong academic record
- Previously disadvantaged and impoverished students
- Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply

- Submit clear copies of the required supporting documents along with the completed application form.

CLOSING DATE
The closing date for applications is 15 December. It is important to submit the application before the closing date to be considered.
