TUT Residence Facilities and Services

​The 36 TUT residences that are currently either owned or leased varies in size, facilities offered and price. In general, the following are available at a reasonable cost to students:

    • Single rooms or rooms for 2, 3 and 4 students sharing
    • Ablution facilities
    • Recreation facilities
    • Daily cleaning services of common areas
    • Security services
    • Laundry facilities (at no additional cost)
    • Internet centres
    • Facilities for students with disabilities on each campus
Furniture
Each student room is furnished with a bedframe and mattress, study desk and chair, wardrobe, dustbin, curtains and broom.
Students may provide the following smaller items themselves but will receive communication from the residence about specific items required or allowed in the residence:
  • Padlocks
  • Bedding
  • Towels
  • Toiletries
  • Coat hangers
  • Iron
  • Automatic washing powder and fabric softener
  • Bath/basin plug
Students may also bring the following items to the residence, but should first check with the residence advisor whether some of these items are not already provided and whether there is space in the room for these items. Students should also be aware that they are responsible for these items and carry the risk if they are stolen, lost or damaged. Items may also need to be removed from residence rooms during holiday periods.
  • Bar fridge
  • Kettle
  • Radio
  • Study lamp
  • Ironing board
  • Oil/fan heater (no open bars)

Catering services

Although some residences have self-catering services, cafeterias offering three healthy balanced meals at affordable prices are available on the Pretoria West, Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa campuses.

No cooking is allowed in residence rooms.

Transport services

Bus transport is available for all students staying in residences that are not situated on a campus.

All residence students are levied with a transport fee that allows them to use any of the TUT buses.
