WK Construction, formerly known as “WJM Construction,” emerged in 1993 and has since evolved into one of southern Africa’s largest independent civil engineering contracting firms. The company has played a significant role in the construction of roads, railways, and pipelines in South Africa, offering cost-effective and innovative infrastructure development solutions within the SADC region.
WK Construction’s areas of expertise encompass Roads and Earthworks, Crushing and Screening, Pipeline Construction, Trenchless Construction, Concrete Structures, and Township Infrastructure and Roads Services. The company holds full membership in the South African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors (SAFCEC) and boasts CIDB gradings of 7 GB, 7 SD, 8 ME, and 9 CE.
About the WK Construction Bursary Program
WK Construction annually extends an invitation to Civil Engineering students to apply for their bursary program. The bursary opportunity is available to students pursuing Civil Engineering (BSc) studies in 2024-2025. Successful applicants must have either completed their first year of study or demonstrate their intention to do so before the bursary is awarded.
The WK Construction bursary covers all study-related expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- South African citizenship.
- Matric completion.
- Full-time enrollment in a BSc Civil Engineering program.
- Completion of the first year of study or proof of intent to do so by the end of 2023.
- Enrollment in a recognized South African tertiary institution.

- Include certified copies of the following documents along with your application:
- ID document.
- Matric certificate.
- Latest tertiary academic record/transcripts (on institutional letterhead).
- Proof of tertiary registration (on institutional letterhead).
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).

The closing date for WK Construction Bursary applications is 30 June. Late applications will not be accepted.
