ABOUT THE COMPANY – OUDTSHOORN MUNICIPALITY
The Greater Oudtshoorn area is based in the Garden Route District of the Western Cape, in the Little Karoo region and at the bottom of the Swartberg Mountains. The Category B municipality is a semi-desert area which was previously home to the Koi-San people and where rock paintings can be found on the walls of the caves.
The Oudtshoorn Municipality is one of 7 in the district (Garden Route District Municipality), which also includes George Local Municipality; Mossel Bay Local Municipality; Bitou Local Municipality; Knysna Local Municipality; Hessequa Local Municipality and Kannaland Local Municipality.
Oudtshoorn’s main economic sectors include (from greatest to smallest): agriculture, forestry and fishing; manufacturing; finance; insurance and construction.

Oudtshoorn Municipality will be awarding bursaries within the following fields of study (Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree or Diploma):
- Accounting
- Economics
- Finance
- Infrastructure
- Internal Audit
- Supply Chain Management
- Risk Management
MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION
Bursaries will be awarded for a period of 1 year, to the value of R40 000.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted – if you do not receive any feedback within 30 working days of the application deadline, please regard your application as unsuccessful.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Reside within the Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality (including rural areas)
- Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
- Studying or intend on studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
- Students from a historically disadvantaged background and those with disabilities are encouraged to apply
- Strong academic record
