The Rustenburg Local Municipality is situated in the North West Province and is one of the five municipalities in the Bojanala Platinum District. Rustenburg is a major town located at the base of the Magaliesberg Mountain Range and is the most densely populated municipality within the North West Province.
The goals of the Category B municipality include ensuring efficient and quality basic services and infrastructure, maintaining a healthy, safe, green, and clean municipal environment, promoting job creation and economic growth, upholding public participation principles and good governance, and ensuring municipal financial viability.
About the Rustenburg Municipality Mayoral Bursary:
The Rustenburg Municipality Mayoral Bursary will be awarded in the following fields of study:
- Engineering
- Information Technology
- Finance
- Agriculture Science
- Health
- Tourism
- Hospitality
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to apply for the Rustenburg Municipality Mayoral Bursary:
- South African citizenship
- Reside within the Rustenburg Local Municipal area
- Completed Matric
- Studying or planning to study full-time in one of the mentioned fields
- Accepted or provisionally accepted to study at a recognized South African tertiary institution
- Preference will be given to students with the highest academic results
- Parents/guardians’ total monthly income must not exceed R3500
- Disabled and previously disadvantaged students are encouraged to apply
How to Apply for the Bursary:

- Quote from the tertiary institute (including tuition, prescribed books, and accommodation costs)
- Certified copies of parents/guardians’ ID documents
- Parents/guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips if employed/affidavit if unemployed/pension slip if an indigent applicant)
- Proof of residence
