About Armscor
The Armaments Corporation of South Africa (Armscor) is a division within the South African Department of Defence. Established in 1968, it employs around 1500 individuals. Armscor plays a vital role in the defence industry and offers scholarships to outstanding students through the Armscor Bursary Scheme. The primary goal of this scheme is to address the critical shortage of engineering and scientific skills in the defence sector.
The Armscor Bursary Scheme aims to enhance and promote excellence in science, mathematics, and technical subjects. It provides bursaries to deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds who intend to pursue full-time studies in the fields of science and engineering.
Armscor External Bursary 2024-2025
Armscor, in collaboration with the defence industry, is offering bursaries to exceptional learners through the Armscor Bursary Scheme. The objective of this scheme is to address the crucial need for science and engineering skills in the defence industry by promoting and improving performance in Mathematics, Science, and technical subjects at the school level.
These bursaries will be awarded to learners from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to studying full-time in the fields of engineering and science.
The Armscor External Bursary covers the following:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Vacation work (if applicable)
Armscor External Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
To be eligible for this bursary, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Demonstrate an interest in working in the defence industry.
- Achieve levels 5, 6, and 7 in Physical Science, English, and Mathematics.
- Intend to study or currently studying within one of the specified fields of study.
- Study or intend to study at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Possess exceptional academic results.

- Certified copy of ID document.
- Certified copy of Matric mid-year results (for current Matric students).
- Certified copy of Matric certificate (for completed Matric students).

- Certified copies of ID documents of parent(s) or guardian(s).
- Proof of income of parent(s) or guardian(s), including payslips, employment letter, SASSA grant letter, or affidavit for informal traders.
- Copy of death certificate of parent(s) or guardian(s) if deceased.
