About Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM):
The Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) is a local government body located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Formerly known as the Eden District Municipality, it governs the Garden Route region, which is known for its scenic beauty, diverse flora and fauna, and popular tourist attractions.
GRDM shares its borders with four other district municipalities, including the Central Karoo District Municipality, Cape Winelands District Municipality, Overberg District Municipality, and Sarah Baartman District Municipality. Garden Route District Municipality Bursary 2024-2025:
The Garden Route District Municipality Bursary is awarded to students for the upcoming academic year, allowing them to pursue any field of study. To be eligible for this bursary, applicants must have parents who are permanent residents of the Garden Route municipal area.
Shortlisted applicants will undergo an interview as part of the selection process. If you do not receive any feedback, consider your application unsuccessful.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the Garden Route District Municipality Bursary, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant’s parents must be permanent residents of the Garden Route Municipal area.
- Completion of the Matric examination.
- Intention to pursue a full-time degree course in the upcoming academic year.
- Enrollment at an SAQA-accredited tertiary or TVET institution in South Africa.

Applicants must submit the following documents to complete their application:
- Certified copies of ID documents.
- Matric certificate (if completed Matric) or latest Matric results (if currently in Matric).
- Certified copies of recent examination results (if currently studying).
- Detailed curriculum vitae (CV) and a cover letter.
- Certified copies of registration proof and expenses related to pursuing the degree.
- Certified copies of income proof of parents/guardians (latest payslips if employed; sworn affidavit if unemployed).
- Municipal account as proof of residential address.

The closing date for the Garden Route District Municipality Bursary is November 11. Late applications will not be considered.
