Knysna Municipality Bursary Program

The Knysna Municipality Mayoral Bursary aims to support students pursuing studies in rare skill sectors. Eligible candidates must reside within the Knysna Municipal Area to qualify for funding.

Successful bursary recipients receive financial support that covers various expenses related to their studies, including:

  • Tuition fees (up to a specific limit)
  • Registration fees
  • Book allowances (up to a specific amount)
  • Examination fees
  • Accommodation fees (for eligible students)

Applicants who are selected will be notified through their provided contact details. If you don’t receive any feedback within 2 months of the application deadline, it means your application was unsuccessful.

Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

To be considered for this bursary, you need to meet the following minimum requirements:

  • South African citizenship
  • Residency in Brenton, Buffalo Bay, Karatara, Noetzie, Rheenendal, or Sedgefield
  • Completion of Matric or current enrollment in Matric
  • Pursuit of or intention to pursue a course with a scarce skill set
  • Enrollment or intended enrollment in a SAQA-accredited or TVET institution in South Africa
  • Strong academic performance
  • Documented financial need or proof of financial aid requirement
  • Disadvantaged background or financial need

Qualified applicants should download and complete the Knysna Municipality Mayoral Bursary Application Form.

When submitting your application, ensure that you include certified copies of the following documents:

  • ID document
  • Matric results or certificate (if completed)
  • Latest results (if studying at a tertiary institution)
  • Proof of household income
  • Proof of acceptance at an institution for the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Institution’s banking details on a tertiary letterhead
  • Proof of residence
