ABOUT THE PRINCE ALBERT MUNICIPALITY
Prince Albert Local Municipality, located in South Africa’s Western Cape province, is part of the Central Karoo District Municipality. This Category B municipality, though one of the smallest in the province, plays a crucial role in its economy, driven primarily by agriculture and tourism.
The municipal area encompasses several towns and cities, including Klaarstroom, Prince Albert, Prince Albert Road, and Leeu Gamka, with a total population of slightly over 13,000 residents.
ABOUT THE PRINCE ALBERT MUNICIPALITY BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
Prince Albert Municipality, in partnership with Provincial Treasury, invites students from the Prince Albert Municipal area to apply for bursary funding for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursaries are available for studies in the following fields:
- Accounting
- Building Infrastructure
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Finance
- Internal Audit
- Law
- Public Administration
- Risk Management
- Supply Chain Management
- Town Planning
- And other fields related to financial management and financial governance, as identified by the Municipality.
MORE ABOUT THE PRINCE ALBERT MUNICIPALITY BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION
The bursary will cover one academic year of study, and the funding will be paid directly to the recipient’s tertiary institution. Shortlisted candidates will be notified within 30 working days after the closing date. If you do not receive feedback by that time, please consider your application unsuccessful. It’s important to note that canvassing will result in automatic disqualification.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PRINCE ALBERT MUNICIPALITY BURSARY
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria before applying. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the disqualification of your application:
- South African citizenship
- Residency within the Prince Albert Municipal area, Western Cape Province
- Enrollment or intent to enroll in a qualification in one of the specified fields
- Registration at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution for the 2025-2026 academic year
- Strong academic record
- Demonstrated financial need
- Interest in contributing to community upliftment and change
- Encouragement for students with disabilities and students from historically disadvantaged groups to apply.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE PRINCE ALBERT MUNICIPALITY BURSARY
To apply for the Prince Albert Municipality Bursary, follow these steps:
- Download and complete the Prince Albert Municipality Bursary Application Form (PDF).
- Along with your online application, submit clear copies of the following supporting documents. Ensure that all required documents are included, as missing items may result in disqualification:
- ID document (certified copy, not older than 3 months)
- Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Proof of completed qualifications (certified copy)
- Most recent examination results (certified copy)
- Proof of tertiary institution registration (certified copy)
- Tertiary institution’s banking details (on institution letterhead, certified copy)
- Proof of residence (municipal account, certified copy)
- Parents or guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, proof of grant or pension if applicable, certified copy)
- Proof of permanent disability, if applicable (letter from a medical doctor)
- Academic results from the previous year (if applying for a second bursary).
