About Women in IT Bursary:
The Women in IT Bursary program consists of both a bursary and mentorship initiative, designed to support and empower women pursuing careers in the Information Technology (IT) field. Established in 2005, this program aims to assist women in developing their skills and advancing within the IT industry. Since its inception, the program has helped 14 young women successfully complete their studies.
About the Bursary:
- Bursary Value: The bursary’s value ranges from R20,000 to R30,000, depending on the number of subjects students need to cover for the academic year. This financial support is intended to assist students with tuition fees, textbooks, and everyday living expenses.
- Selection Process: Shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in an interview with the bursary panel, typically held in November. The names of the bursary recipients are usually announced before the end of November.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the Women in IT Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Female student
- Enrolled full-time in an ICT-related degree program
- Expected to be in their final year of study in the upcoming academic year (the year of the bursary award)
- Not currently employed
- Demonstrated financial need
- Strong determination to succeed and make a meaningful impact on the IT industry
How to Apply:
To apply for the bursary, students should submit a motivational email to bursary@iitpsa.org.za. The motivation should be approximately 500 words and should explain why the applicant believes they are deserving of the bursary. It should also include information about their career goals and instances where they have applied their knowledge and skills, highlighting how these experiences would ensure their success in the IT field.

- Full name
- Date of birth
- ID number
- Contact numbers (mobile and home)
- Email address
- Details of professional and academic history and experience
- Two references, including their names, titles, positions, relationships with the applicant, and contact details
Closing Date:
The closing date for bursary applications is 30 October.
