About Silulumanzi:
Silulumanzi is a water provider serving the contractual areas of the City of Mbombela Local Municipality. Its primary mission is to supply clean water to homes and industries in this region. Silulumanzi operates as a subsidiary of South African Water Works (SAWW), a national utility company responsible for supplying clean drinking water, with a capacity exceeding 120 million litres.
The organization is committed to improving the living standards of the communities it serves. Silulumanzi employs the latest technology and highly trained staff to deliver its services and implements various programs for water conservation and environmental sustainability.
Silulumanzi Bursary 2024-2025:
Silulumanzi offers a bursary program designed to assist underprivileged students in completing their education. These bursaries are awarded annually to deserving students based on merit. For the 2024-2025 academic session, bursaries are available for students pursuing studies in the following fields:
- Biology (BSc)
- Chemical Engineering (BSc)
- Civil Engineering (BSc)
- Electrical Engineering (BSc) – Heavy/light Current
- ND Environmental Science
- Fitter and Turner
- Fitting (Machinery included)
- Information Technology (BSc)
- Instrumentation
- Mechanical Engineering
- Millwright
- Quantity Survey (BSc)
- ND Water Care
Applicants pursuing BSc degrees are eligible for most of the fields, with exceptions for Environmental Science and Water Care, where a National Diploma (ND) is acceptable.
Initially, the bursaries are awarded for one year, with the possibility of renewal for subsequent years based on satisfactory academic performance in the current study year.
The value of the bursary is determined on a case-by-case basis and will cover expenses such as tuition fees, registration fees, accommodation costs, prescribed books, and study materials. After graduation, bursars are expected to join the Silulumanzi Water Learning Academy for a fixed-term engagement, and further details will be provided to shortlisted students.
Eligibility Criteria for the Silulumanzi Bursary:
To be eligible for the Silulumanzi bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have completed Matric (Grade 12) or be currently in Matric.
- Must be studying or intend to study toward an undergraduate qualification (BSc or National Diploma) in one of the specified fields of study.
- Must have either been accepted for study or be currently enrolled at an accredited tertiary institution.
- Must commit to working in the South African water industry after completing their studies.
- Must have achieved at least Level 6 for Science and Mathematics in Matric.
- Must demonstrate a strong academic track record.
Preference may be given to certain applicant groups, including female applicants, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and students with disabilities. Additionally, applicants who are residents of specific regions will receive preference for the bursary program.

- Download and complete the Silulumanzi Bursary Application Form 2024-2025.Alternatively, you can obtain the official application form from Silulumanzi Customer Care offices located in KaNyamazane, Mbombela City, and Matsulu.
- Complete the application form as instructed, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

- Birth certificate
- South African ID/passport
- Most recent Matric results (if currently in Matric)
- Matric certificate (if completed Matriculation)
- Proof of acceptance issued by the tertiary institution (must be on institution letterhead)
- Complete tertiary academic record (if currently studying at an institution, must be on institution letterhead)
- Exam results for the academic year 2020 (must be on tertiary letterhead)
- Supplementary exam results (if applicable, must be on tertiary letterhead)
- A detailed breakdown of the costs incurred (invoice/statement/receipts, must be on institution letterhead)
- Proof of disability (if applicable)
- Proof of household income (recent payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed)
- A motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
