South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) Bursary

ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL ENERGY DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE (SANEDI)

The South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) was established in accordance with the National Energy Act, 2008 (Act No. 34 of 2008). SANEDI’s mandate involves engaging in energy research and development, promoting energy research and technology innovation, and fostering energy efficiency in South Africa.

ABOUT THE SANEDI BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

SANEDI offers bursaries to South African researchers pursuing Honours, Masters, and Doctoral research-based studies in the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). The bursary provides coverage for tuition fees, laboratory fees, prescribed books, documentation, and living expenses. Funding is provided for a maximum of 1 year for Honours studies, 2 years for Masters studies, and 3 years for Doctoral studies.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria to be considered for the SANEDI bursary:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be studying towards a Honours, Masters, or Doctoral qualification in the field of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)
  • Be enrolled at a public institution within South Africa (preferably on a full-time basis)
  • Have successfully completed all previous years of study
  • Not be currently receiving any other funding (excluding merit awards, prizes, or supplementary bursaries/grants)
  • Not be currently employed on a full-time basis

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

To apply for the SANEDI bursary, follow these steps:

  1. Download and complete the SANEDI Bursary Application Form available in PDF format.
  2. Read the SANEDI Bursary Information and SANEDI Bursary Terms and Conditions documents before applying.
  3. Submit clear copies of the following supporting documents along with your completed application form:
  • Certified copy of your ID document
  • Full tertiary academic record on tertiary letterhead
  • Proof of tertiary registration
  • Proof of any supplementary bursaries or grants
