South African Road Federation Bursaries:

The South African Road Federation (SARF) is offering bursaries to qualified applicants who wish to pursue further education in fields relevant to the road transport industry. These fields of study may include:

  1. Road Engineering (Traffic engineering, Transportation planning, Pavement engineering, Bridge Engineering, Construction Materials, Stormwater, Environment, and Construction management).
  2. Road Transport Management.

Bursary Coverage:

Requirements and Eligibility for SARF Bursary:

To be eligible for the SARF bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be South African citizens (applicants from SADC countries may also apply).
  • Must be studying full-time or enrolled in a road transport industry-related degree at an accredited South African University or the University of Technology.
  • Preference will be given to applicants pursuing advanced degrees such as M.Sc., M. Tech., or higher, although undergraduate degrees may also be considered.
  • Employees or members of SARF will be given preference.

Responsibilities of Bursars:

Recipients of the SARF bursary will be expected to:

  • Enroll as associate (individual) members of SARF (annual subscription: approximately R445).
  • Submit six-monthly reports on their study progress.
  • If enrolled in postgraduate studies, prepare a thesis covering research results or academic content for publication in the Federation’s newsletter or other publication within a reasonable time after completing the course of study.
  • Be prepared to make a presentation to their local branch of the Federation on the subject of their study on a mutually convenient occasion.

  2. Submit certified copies of the required documents along with your application form, including:
