Tharisa, an integrated resource group based in Europe, operates in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Cyprus. The company is a low-cost producer of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) and chrome concentrate and is listed on both the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE). Tharisa provides mining, processing, beneficiation, marketing, sales, and logistics services.
About the Tharisa Bursary Programme – Fields Covered
Tharisa is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursary will support students pursuing studies in the following fields:
- Analytical Chemistry
- Electrical Engineering
- Geology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
Bursary Coverage and Additional Opportunities
The Tharisa Bursary will cover:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Books
- Monthly allowance (starting from the second semester of 2025-2026)
Additionally, bursary recipients will be required to:
- Participate in vacation work at the mine at the end of each year
- Serve as graduate interns at Tharisa for at least one year after graduation
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be considered for the bursary:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must have completed Matric
- Must have achieved at least 60% in Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
- Must be studying or accepted/registered to study towards one of the specified qualifications
- Must be studying or accepted/registered at a recognised and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
- Must not be receiving any other bursary or sponsorship
- Preference will be given to students from local communities/labour sending areas (North West Province) and students with disabilities
