About DSV (DSV A/S):

DSV A/S is a Denmark-based logistics company specializing in global transport services. The company offers comprehensive transportation solutions by sea, air, and land, including road and rail transport. DSV operates in 90 countries, maintaining offices in over 60 countries, and employs approximately 75,000 people. It is one of the world’s largest freight forwarding and logistics companies, ranking among the top five after acquiring UTi Worldwide. Due to its size and scale, DSV is involved in several corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that benefit communities.

DSV Empowerment Trust Bursary 2024-2025:

The DSV Empowerment Trust is a trust founded by Tshikululu, which owns a 25% stake in DSV South Africa. Tshikululu is a fund management company, and a portion of its share of profits is allocated to benefit the community. The trust provides financial support to students from the black community who require assistance for tertiary education. In this context, “black” includes African, Indian, and Chinese colored individuals.

The bursaries are available to permanent employees of DSV or their dependents and nominees. The participating DSV companies for this bursary program include:

  • DSV South Africa (Pty) Ltd
  • DSV Solutions (Pty) Ltd
  • DSV Mounties (Pty) Ltd
  • DSV Road (Pty) Ltd
  • DSV Shared Services (Pty) Ltd
  • The Sisonke Partnership (trading as DSV Healthcare)

The value of the bursary is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on whether the candidate is pursuing a diploma or degree qualification. The minimum study period should be at least three years.

Initially, the bursary is awarded for one year. To receive funding for subsequent years, students must pass at least 80% of their courses.

Each bursar will be assigned a mentor to guide them in their careers.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the DSV Empowerment Trust Bursary, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • South African citizenship
  • Black (African, Chinese, and Indian colored individuals included)
  • Current permanent employee of the participating DSV companies listed above or a dependent (legally or financially) of an existing permanent employee
  • Either studying or provisionally accepted to study full-time in 2021
  • Studying or provisionally accepted to study at a recognized tertiary institution (university, college, or FET college) in South Africa
  • Under the age of 25 if pursuing an undergraduate qualification
  • Highly motivated and determined to succeed
  • Strong interest in the chosen field of study

Meeting all eligibility criteria does not guarantee funding. Since there are limited bursaries available and a higher number of applicants, preference will be given to those with a strong academic track record and qualifications in scarce skills areas.
