About the Company – Harmony:
Harmony was founded in 1950 as a gold mining and exploration organization in South Africa. Today, Harmony is one of the largest gold mining companies globally, with operations in both South Africa and Papua New Guinea.
This JSE Limited, Berlin Stock Exchange, and New York Stock Exchange-listed company employs over 32,000 staff across its South African and Papua New Guinea operations.
Harmony, once a lease-bound mining operation, has since expanded into a world-class producer of gold. The company currently has one open-pit operation, numerous surface sources, and nine underground mines in South Africa, along with an open-pit silver and gold mine in Papua New Guinea.
About the Harmony Bursary Program – Fields of Study:
Harmony invites students to apply for their bursary program for the 2025-2026 academic year. The bursaries will be awarded to top-performing students in the following fields:
Core mining disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
- Extractive Metallurgy
- Geology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Rock Engineering
- Survey
Non-core mining disciplines:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Health Sciences
- Human Resources
- Information Technology
- Social Sciences
More About the Harmony Bursary Program – Selection:
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview and a psychometric assessment. If you do not receive feedback by November 24, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Allocation of Harmony bursaries depends on the company’s future labor requirements and talent planning, so the covered fields/disciplines may vary each year. Applicants are encouraged to reapply for funding each year.
Eligibility Requirements for the Harmony Bursary:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria before applying; failure to do so will result in the application not being considered:
- South African citizenship
- Aged between 18 and 35 years old
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Achieved a minimum result of 60% for all subjects in Matric
- Studying full-time toward a qualification in one of the specified fields
- Entering the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2025-2026
- Enrolled at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa
- Engineering students: Achieved a minimum result of 70% for Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
- Core mining discipline students: Achieved a minimum result of 70% in Mathematics and Science (NOT Mathematics Literacy)
- Current tertiary students: Achieved a minimum result of 60% for all major subjects
- Not in receipt of any other bursary funding or sponsorship
- Preference given to students pursuing core mining fields of studies, students from Harmony host communities, students from Harmony labor sending areas, dependents of Harmony employees, and historically disadvantaged persons
- Students with disabilities are welcome to apply, but selection will be based on the physical demands of the occupation related to the qualification

- Download and complete the Harmony Bursary Application Form 2025-2026 (.pdf).
- Enter “Uni24.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the Harmony bursary.
- Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation with your online application. Ensure all required documents are included; missing items may result in disqualification:
- Photograph (passport-sized, to be attached to the application form)
- ID document (certified copy)
- Grade 11 final results and Matric June results (certified copy), if currently in Matric
- Matric certificate (certified copy), if completed Matric
- Full academic record, including the most recent results if currently studying (certified copy)
- Acceptance letter from your tertiary institute (on the institution’s letterhead)
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 3 pages)
