Founded in 2012, Sibanye-Stillwater is a major global mining company specializing in palladium, platinum, and gold production. The company is a significant player not only in South Africa but also on the global stage. Sibanye-Stillwater is listed on both the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

The company’s South Africa-based operations include the Beatrix operation in the Free State, as well as the Kloof, Driefontein, and Cooke operations in Gauteng. These operations encompass both surface and underground gold mining activities.

About the Sibanye-Stillwater Bursary Program:

Sibanye-Stillwater is offering bursaries for the 2025-2026 academic year to students from local communities and labor sending areas. The bursaries cover studies in various fields, including Electrical Engineering, Finance, Geology, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy Engineering, Rock Engineering, and Survey. A total of five bursaries will be awarded, with three offered by the Krondaal Communities section and two by the Rustenburg Communities section.

Selection Process:

Shortlisted candidates will undergo a panel interview, and the selection process may include pre-screening and psychometric evaluations. Additionally, candidates will need to undergo a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye-Stillwater Occupational Health Care Centre to determine their medical fitness.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Sibanye-Stillwater Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:

  • Completed Matric
  • Achieved a university acceptance pass in Matric with a minimum APS of 23
  • Attained a minimum result of 60% for English in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics in Matric
  • Obtained a minimum result of 60% for Physical Science in Matric
  • Registered or intending to study one of the listed qualifications
  • Registered to study at one of the specified tertiary institutions: University of Johannesburg (UJ), University of the Witwatersrand (WITS), University of Pretoria (UP), or North-West University (NWU)
  • Preference given to candidates from local communities and labor sending areas
