ABOUT THE BURSARY PROVIDER – PAMSA
The Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa (PAMSA) is an organization founded in 1992 that promotes paper as a renewable and recyclable material for various applications, including packaging and communication. PAMSA represents over 90% of South Africa’s paper, packaging, and tissue manufacturers and serves as the voice of the pulp and paper industry in the country.
ABOUT THE PAMSA BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
PAMSA is offering a bursary programme for the 2024/2025 academic years. The bursary will cover studies towards a Masters in Chemical Engineering at a registered South African university.
MORE ABOUT THE PAMSA BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION
The bursary will provide funding for two years of full-time study, with a value of R160,000 per year (R320,000 per student over two years). Additionally, bursary recipients may have the opportunity to be employed as engineers-in-training at participating PAMSA member companies.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for an interview. Applicants who do not receive any feedback should consider their application unsuccessful.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PAMSA BURSARY
To be eligible for the PAMSA bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Preferably be a South African citizen
- Be in the final year of BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering studies OR have completed a BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering degree
- Have completed studies in five years or less
- Intend to study towards a Masters in Chemical Engineering in 2024
- Be studying at a recognized and accredited university in South Africa
- Have a strong academic record, with a minimum overall average of 60% in the final year

Applications must be submitted online through the PAMSA Bursary Application 2025-2026 form. When applying, indicate that you heard about the PAMSA bursary through https://uni24.co.za/
Submit clear copies of the following documents along with your online application:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Full academic record/transcripts for all years of university study (on institution’s letterhead)
- Motivational letter explaining why you should be awarded the bursary (1 page)
- Letter of reference from a lecturer (including their contact details)
CLOSING DATE FOR THE PAMSA BURSARY
The closing date for applications is 9 June. Late applications will be accepted until 30 June , but preference will be given to students who apply by the official closing date.
