DRDGOLD Limited (formerly known as Durban Roodepoort Deep Limited) is a prominent South African gold producer and a global leader in recovering metal from the retreatment of surface tailings. About the DRDGOLD Bursary Program:
Ergo Mining Proprietary Limited (Ergo) and Far West Gold Recoveries Proprietary Limited (FWGR), both subsidiaries of DRDGOLD, offer bursaries to students residing in Gauteng. These bursaries are aimed at undergraduate students studying various fields of study. Bursary recipients will be required to undertake vacation work at one of DRDGOLD’s operations during their tertiary holidays.
Fields Covered by the Bursary:
The DRDGOLD bursary covers the following fields of study at the undergraduate level:
- Electrical Engineering
- Environmental Sciences
- Finance
- Human Resources
- Information Technology (IT)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgy
- Safety Management
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for the DRDGOLD Bursary, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Reside within the Gauteng province (preference given to those in the City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, and Merafong).
- Be studying or intending to study in one of the specified fields.
- Be entering their first or second year of study.
- Be studying or intending to study at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Preference will be given to students with a strong academic record.
How to Apply:
Interested students who meet the eligibility criteria should apply by submitting clear copies of the following documents:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Proof of address in Gauteng
- Short Curriculum Vitae
- First-year students must also submit Matric latest results or Grade 11 final results (certified copy) and a provisional letter of acceptance from a tertiary institution for 2025-2026 studies (on tertiary letterhead).
- Second-year students must also submit their full tertiary academic record (on tertiary letterhead).

Closing Date:
The closing date for applications is 19 February 2025-2026. Ensure your application is submitted before this date, as late applications will not be accepted.
