About Mbuyelo Mining Contractors (MMC):
Mbuyelo Mining Contractors (MMC) was established in 2011 as a subsidiary of Misty Sea Trading (Pty) Ltd, which is part of the Mbuyelo Group. MMC operates in various aspects of open-cast mining contracting, including truck and shovel operations, pit-pumping services, road construction and maintenance, stockpile management, drilling and blasting, and mine rehabilitation.
The name “Mbuyelo” is derived from the Xitsonga word, which means “returns.” The company is guided by the belief that rewards or returns are earned through hard work and effort.
About the MMC Bursary Program:
Mbuyelo Mining Contractors is offering bursaries for the 2025-2026 academic year to students pursuing undergraduate degrees in the following fields:
- Finance
- Human Resources
- Industrial Psychology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Safety
Bursary Renewal and Selection:
The bursary is renewable each year, contingent on satisfactory academic performance.
Successful candidates will be contacted within 30 days after the closing date. If you have not received any feedback by 31 October, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Eligibility Requirements for the Mbuyelo Mining Contractors Bursary:
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry criteria:
- South African citizenship
- Currently in Matric or completed Matric
- Studying or intending to study in one of the specified fields in 2025-2026
- Enrolled or registered at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution
- Strong academic record
- Minimum overall average of 60% in Matric (if currently in Matric)
- Minimum overall average of 60% for all major subjects at tertiary level (if currently studying)
- Preference will be given to students residing in Emakhazeni, Chief Albert Luthuli, and Steve Tshwete Municipalities.

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documents with your application:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric latest results (certified copy) if currently in Matric
- Proof of provisional acceptance/proof of registration at a tertiary institution (on institution’s letterhead)
- Full academic record (on institution’s letterhead) if currently studying
- Proof of residence (certified by local authority or Municipality).
Closing Date for the Mbuyelo Bursary:
The closing date for applications is 30 September. Late applications will not be accepted.
